Connectivity and integration

The RUT901 industrial cellular router supports 4G LTE Cat 4, 3G and 2G connectivity. Dual SIM and automatic WAN failover provide options for switching to an available backup connection. The Wi-Fi access point includes Hotspot functionality, while supported protocols include MQTT, Modbus TCP and DNP3.

Planning the connection

Choose the mobile operator and data plan for the installation location, then check network availability before deployment. Configure the primary connection, backup connection and switching conditions to match the needs of the connected equipment. Failover depends on the availability and configuration of the backup path; it does not replace checking coverage and power supply conditions.

For integration with an existing monitoring system, identify the required protocol and configure the device and remote endpoint consistently. During commissioning, verify the transfer of the expected data and test the configured connection changeover. Record the configuration so that future maintenance can distinguish the router settings from changes to the mobile service or remote application.
