The operator needs a local temperature display while the PLC receives the same measurement. When selecting a PR 5714D, check the complete path from the sensor through the indicator to the PLC input.
Temperature input and retransmission
Select the Pt100 input. The indicator measures the temperature-dependent resistance of the sensor and displays the temperature. The value can be retransmitted as 4…20 mA to a PLC current input. The total load connected to this output must not exceed 800 Ω.
The instrument requires a separate supply, for example 24 V DC. Match the retransmission range to the PLC scaling so that the local display and control system represent the same temperature.
Testing alarm circuits
The two relays have potential-free contacts; switched circuits require an external supply. Each relay can be activated independently of the input to check its connected circuit. Follow this test with a threshold check using a real input signal.
During commissioning, compare the local indication with the PLC value and confirm the response of the alarm circuits.
