When sending a PLC information about the current or voltage in an alternating-current (AC) electrical circuit, the label "universal input" is not enough.
Check three criteria:

Checklist for monitoring AC circuits:
1️⃣ Input: PR 4179 measures 0…5 A AC for a typical current transformer, or 0…300 V AC for supply monitoring, as root-mean-square (RMS) values.
2️⃣ Output: it converts the AC signal into an active or passive current output or a voltage output, including 4…20 mA or ±10 V.
3️⃣ Isolation: galvanic isolation on three ports, tested at 2.3 kV AC.

Compatible front interfaces:

PR 4511 — a detachable display and Modbus RTU over RS-485:

PR 4512 — a detachable display and Bluetooth for parameter setting, monitoring and diagnostics from a phone using the PPS app:

Which criterion most often rules out an option: the input, output or isolation?
