A "two-wire transmitter" and a "sensor connected with three wires" do not contradict one another: they describe two different circuits.
With a Pt100, the connecting wires introduce additional resistance into the measurement. In a three-wire connection, PR 5333A compensates the cable resistance and reduces the error introduced by the leads.
PR 5333A from PR electronics:
• accepts Pt100…Pt1000 and Ni100…Ni1000 RTD inputs, or linear resistance inputs;
• offers cable compensation for a three-wire RTD connection;
• converts the measurement into a standard analog current signal and mounts in a DIN form B connection head, or on a DIN rail using the PR 8421 adapter.
"Two wires" refers to the transmitter's shared power supply and output loop; "three wires" refers to the connection between the Pt100 and its input.
Where do misunderstandings arise more often: the Pt100 wire count, cable compensation or output scaling?
