The Pt100 probe works, but the new PLC input only accepts 4…20 mA.
Signal incompatibility can block integration of the measurement.
When upgrading a control panel, a probe suited to the process can be retained if its signal is adapted to the available input. The temperature range must also be matched to the scaling in the PLC.
The PR 3102 converter from PR electronics offers:
• connection of a 2-, 3- or 4-wire Pt100 and conversion to a current or voltage output;
• DIP-switch selection of precalibrated temperature ranges for local configuration;
• a 6.1 mm housing, useful when DIN-rail space is limited.
For a 4…20 mA input, select the corresponding output and check matching scaling at both ends of the chain.
Which check helped you avoid incorrect scaling when integrating a Pt100 into a PLC?
