Is your 4…20 mA signal unstable, even though the process appears constant?
One point to check: ground loops.

In a ground loop, potential differences can generate unwanted currents through the signal connections. Galvanic isolation breaks this conductive path while preserving the transfer of the measured information.

For the PR 3104 from PR electronics, three-port isolation means separating the input, output and power supply.

The converter enables:
• galvanic separation of the three circuits;
• adaptation of direct-current (DC) signals, such as 4…20 mA and 0…10 V DC, through DIP-switch configuration;
• integration within 6.1 mm of DIN-rail space.

During installation, also check correct wiring, shielding and signal ranges.

Which check helped you identify a ground loop in an installation?
