Pulses are no longer coming from the sensor. Has the process stopped, or is there a cable fault?
Without a distinct diagnostic indication, the absence of a signal can prolong the checks.
In a circuit with a NAMUR sensor, PR 3202A2 from PR electronics helps distinguish process information from a cable fault:
• it repeats the sensor signal through a relay output;
• it detects cable breaks or short circuits, indicated by an LED and by the secondary output configured for an alarm;
• it provides four-port galvanic isolation: the input, the two outputs and the power supply.
Line-fault detection must be enabled via the DIP switches. This allows the automation system to receive the process signal and the cable alarm separately.
Which indication helps you most to distinguish a process stop from a cable fault?
