How much configurability is worth retaining in a 4…20 mA loop with fixed requirements?
What justifies choosing a device that does not need configuration?
When the signal must be transmitted 1:1 to the PLC, the choice depends on what you need to do now and on the changes planned for the project.
PR 3103 from PR electronics offers a dedicated option:
• it isolates and repeats standard current signals 1:1, without configuration;
• it galvanically separates the input, output and power supply to eliminate ground loops;
• it takes up 6.1 mm on the DIN rail, useful when cabinet space is limited.
For a 4…20 mA loop, 1:1 repetition means 4…20 mA at the input and 4…20 mA at the output. If the project requires a change in range or signal type, that requirement must be checked separately when choosing the device.
In your projects, which matters more: not having to configure the device, or the possibility of later reconfiguration? In which situation?
