You can read the device via HART, but cannot change the measuring range?
On PR 3113, first check the selected mode.

An assumption to avoid: if HART communication is available, all configuration functions are automatically available.

The PR 3113 temperature converter from PR electronics shows why this distinction matters:

• in DIP mode, you select from more than 1,000 pre-calibrated ranges, while HART communication allows reading only;
• in HART mode, the HART 7 protocol allows parameter reading and writing for extended configuration;
• it converts the signal from a Pt100 or a J/K thermocouple into an isolated active analogue current output with HART.

Reading data and changing the configuration are distinct functions. Checking the selected mode is a concrete step during commissioning.

In your procedures, how do you check that the device also allows parameter writing via HART?
