The temperature has returned within limits. The relay still ‘remembers’ the deviation.
The useful detail is the alarm-latching function.

Design scenario: a temperature exceeds the threshold, then returns to the normal range before the operator checks it. With the PR 4131 from PR electronics, the latching function can keep the relay active until manual reset.

The universal trip amplifier offers:
• latching of the alarm state, so that the measurement returning within limits does not automatically reset it;
• a window defined by a lower and an upper threshold, with the relay state changing outside it;
• parameter configuration, relay simulation and diagnostics through the detachable local digital display, available as an accessory.

When choosing the configuration, what the operator needs to observe after a brief deviation matters.

In which applications do you use a latched alarm, and which conditions do you require before manual reset?
