Here is how VEGA describes the brand and activities

HOME OF VALUES
As a trend-setting technology company, we have a clear vision of the future. VEGA is a family business. Thinking in terms of generations instead of quarters is part of our DNA.
For us, “values” are “measured values” as well as our “corporate values” – in other words, all the values that are important to us and our customers.

Vision and Mission
With innovative technologies and services, we develop solutions that inspire.
Through our sense of simplicity and our focus on people, we are looking to the future with curiosity. Locally grounded and globally connected, together we give values a home.

Responsibility for people and locations worldwide
As an owner-managed and independent technology company, we take responsibility for our business locations and our people. And not only for the 1,200 employees at our headquarters in the beautiful Black Forest, but also for our 2,600 employees around the world.
The Grieshaber Group includes three companies: VEGA, Supfina (special machine construction) and Grieshaber Precision (precision turned parts). Good for us and for the region: At our Schiltach site, we are currently preparing 80 trainees for their professional life. With our up-and-coming team of skilled workers, we are well positioned to shape the future of measurement technology.
Focussed on long-term development
VEGA blazes its own trail – and has been doing so continuously, at an appropriate, steady pace, since its founding over 60 years ago. We combine financial security, independence and tradition with a sense of proportion. And with employees who think for themselves, recognise market developments and contribute ideas.
Consulting in China? Setup and commissioning in Mexico? Service in Norway?
We are well positioned to do this – worldwide. We maintain a close connection to our customers, wherever they are in the world. VEGA delivers, installs and services level and pressure instrumentation. That’s our job, and the closer we are to our customers, the better we do it. VEGA has a local presence in all the countries marked with a dot on this map. The actual numbers are: 26 subsidiaries and over 80 sales partners worldwide.
Where, and above all, when did the VEGA story begin? “In the future!“
Because “electronics is the future,” said company founder Bruno Grieshaber. What sounds like a truism today was visionary in 1959, when he founded VEGA. The goal that drove him: Make electronic level measurement a reality. He achieved this goal just five years after founding the company: In 1964, Bruno Grieshaber filed a patent application for “current-oriented measurement.”
But that was only the beginning of the success story. Because, it continues as if wearing seven-league boots: 1991 was the year radar was “born.” The next phase of the long success story began with “eric”, the world’s first two-wire radar sensor. This was the cornerstone upon which VEGA built to become the market leader in radar level measurement, right up to this day.
In 2003, VEGA turned modular, offering its customers sensors based on the “plics modular system.” As soon as the order is received, the measuring instrument is assembled from a large selection of prefabricated individual components – and can thus be delivered within a very short time. The display and adjustment module PLICSCOM ensures standardised adjustment across all measuring principles.
Radar is still VEGA’s core technology. The year 2004 saw the launch of the first radar sensor specially developed for bulk solids. And in 2014, these specialised sensors were available for the first time with the high measuring frequency of 80 GHz.
And today? Even more variety. VEGA has just expanded its product portfolio to include compact radar sensors, pressure sensors and level switches. From simple to complex, the product range covers all customer requirements.
Simple is a term you’ll encounter everywhere at VEGA.
Our products are easy to select and order, and installing and commissioning them is incredibly simple. We are constantly optimising our processes to become better, and even simpler. We know the requirements of our customers around the world and translate them into products that get the job done. The simpler, the better.
The instrumentation that VEGA produces ranges from sensors for level, switching and pressure measurement, to devices and software that integrate the sensors into process control systems. To make the instruments more flexible and universally applicable, we apply the latest technology to every measuring principle.
Continuous level measurement
In this form of level measurement, the sensor determines the filling level continuously. The measuring result is either displayed directly on the instrument or, if the application is more complex, passed on to a control system.
Level measurement is used for liquids, pastes, powders or bulk solids. Typical application sites are process and storage tanks, silos and mobile containers.
Reliable point level detection
In point level detection, the user defines a certain level. When that level is reached, a switching command is triggered. This starts or stops filling mechanisms such as conveyors and pumps and thus prevents overfilling of the respective containers or dry running of the pumps. Typical application sites are process tanks, storage tanks, silos or pipelines in process industries, for reliable monitoring of liquids, pastes, powders or coarse bulk solids.
Universal pressure measurement
Process pressure and differential pressure measurement are used to measure level, volume or mass in different production methods and processes. Gases, vapours and liquids are measured in process tanks, storage tanks and pipelines. Typical places of application: paper industry, shipbuilding, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, as well as many others. This range of deployment is especially wide and even includes applications in the aerospace industry.
Smart communication
Devices for evaluation and control transmit the measurement signals directly to the control system – via conventional cables or wireless transmission. VEGA offers a user-friendly app for wireless operation: the smartphone thus becomes an industrial device with intuitive handling. In this way, measured values are available quickly and reliably from a distance, even in widely spread out plants or potentially explosive environments.
PRO
That means: all integration options available, any mounting situation, all process fittings available, highest pressures, lowest temperatures and use with all conceivable media.
Every sensor of the PRO line is optimized to meet the individual requirements of the various industrial sectors and precisely tailored to the specific application.
BASIC
That means: optimal measurement technology "made by VEGA" for standard processes and basic applications.
Not available in all versions, but in all important, standard versions and with numerous connection variants.
Every sensor of the BASIC line is easy to integrate and quickly ready for operation.
What we can measure
Every industry places its own specific requirements on the measurement technology it uses. Through years of experience, we know the application conditions in the various industrial sectors and what they require.
What we can measure
We often measure in inhospitable places. That’s why we offer non-sensitivity to heat and cold as well as protection against aggressive substances and strong vibration. Measuring instruments often encounter a combination of different challenges. Food and chemical applications, in particular, can be extremely problematic. Despite the diversity of challenges, VEGA can provide a measuring instrument perfectly adapted to the conditions of any application.
Hygienically flawless
Maximum reliability and adherence to the highest standards of hygiene in the manufacturing process are among the requirements in the food and pharmaceutical industry. The measuring instruments must not have any influence on the product. They must be easy to clean and made of suitable materials in compliance with EC 1935/2004 and FDA, and come with approvals according to 3A and EHEDG. The thorough cleaning processes typical for the industry (CIP and SIP cleaning) in tanks and processing systems also place extremely high demands on the sensors.
For the strictest requirements
A sensor that operates maintenance-free even in extreme cold, in sea water or in applications with abrasive bulk solids? Sounds almost impossible, but it is a reality. Because, VEGA relies on indestructible materials and impeccable design: from leak-proof housing to gap-free stainless steel flange. It is indeed possible to develop long-lasting automation solutions according to the motto “fit and forget”: the sensors are robust, wear-free and maintenance-free. In this way, we can offer our customers the highest level of safety and operating efficiency at the lowest possible cost.
Over many, many years.
Absolutely reliable
Even if the measured medium changes again and again, VEGA sensors operate reliably under the changing conditions. They easily cope with medium properties ranging from corrosive, creep-prone, high or low viscosity to adhesive, volatile, cryogenic or boiling. That means: They dependably withstand temperatures from -196 °C to over +400 °C and pressures ranging from vacuum to 1,000 bar. Our goal is to ensure that processes run reliably and efficiently and, above all, to protect the employees who work in close proximity to them.
